Write to your MP and ask them to support Carers Rights Day 2025!
This Carers Rights Day (20 November 2025), with its theme ‘Know your rights, use your rights’, we want to raise awareness to help the UK’s unpaid carers better understand their legal rights and the support they’re entitled to.
Across the UK, 5.8 million unpaid carers are looking after family and friends who are older, disabled or seriously ill. And with the average person having a 50:50 chance of becoming a carer by age 50, this is an issue that will affect most of us long before retirement.
Yet too many carers:
- Don’t realise they are “carers”
- Struggle to juggle work, education and care
- Miss out on essential rights, benefits and health and social care support
Knowing your rights as a carer can help if you’re juggling work and care or trying to access health and social care services. However, many people don’t realise that they are caring and miss out on vital support as a result.
This needs to change - and together, we can change it. Will you take action today? This Carers Rights Day, we have a powerful opportunity to make our voices heard — but we need every one of us to act. Will you write to your MP and ask them to show their support?
